- A door that jerks or shudders, especially mid-travel. A seized roller makes the door climb unevenly, which loads one side more than the other. You’ll often see the wear concentrated on one hinge line.
- Visible flat spots or wobble on the roller wheel. Nylon rollers chip and flatten over time. If the wheel isn’t perfectly round, it’s already chewing your track.
- Black rubber or plastic debris in the track or on the floor under the track ends. That’s roller material shedding. By the time you see it, the roller is done.
- Premature opener wear – grinding gears, a struggling motor, or a door that reverses for no clear reason. The opener is compensating for bad rollers. If the opener is straining, the problem is almost never the opener.
